Hotel Constans is situated not far from the city traffic right in the historical centre of Prague. You can easily get there with a 5-minute walk from the tram stop Malostranske namesti (Lesser Town Square). The first of the 3 houses was founded by the court pâté maker Patrick Urban of Czensaye in 1617. In 1622 Mr. Pettman bought the house, extended it and named it "At Seven Candlesticks". Subsequently the house was heavily damaged during Saxon-Sweden campaign.

In 1667 under the circumstances in the Czech kingdom the house was bought by Jan Jindrich Preuner, a court tailor and in 1690 acquired by well-known European painter with a strong influence Vaclav Hranicky and his wife Constans. Constans finally committed the house to her second younger husband Isaak Godini who was a well-known Italian painter of Jewish origin (known as Godini). In 1802 the house received a new owner Josef Dvoran, a member of the lower nobility, and his family. Later on the owners changed very often.
