Die ersten schriftlichen Nachrichten über Lednice stammen aus dem Jahr 1222. In lateinischen Texten hieß es IZGROUBI, in deutschen EISGRUB. Anfangs handelte es sich um ein kleines Dörfchen, das 1582 zu einem kleinen Städtchen wurde. Hier überwog die Erzeugung landwirtschaftlicher Produkte. Lednice gehört zu den meistbesuchtesten Orten in der Tschechischen Republik. Diese Vorrangstellung erwarb es aufgrund des Schlosses und des angrenzenden Schlossparks. Lednice ist Teil des Lednicer-Valticer Areals, das 1992 zur Landschafts-Denkmalszone erklärt wurde. Diese Kulturlandschaft wurde 1996 in das Verzeichnis des Welt- und Kulturerbes der UNESCO aufgenommen. Alljährlich findet hier eine Reihe interessanter Aktionen statt.
